The graduation ceremony for the eighth cohort of students from the African Institute for Water and Renewable Energies (including Climate Change) in Tlemcen for the academic year 2023-2024 took place yesterday, May 7, 2024, at the central library of the University of Tlemcen. The ceremony was attended by the Wali of the Wilaya of Tlemcen, Mr. Youcef Bechlaoui, accompanied by the President of the APW, local civil and security authorities, the Rector of the Pan-African University, John Kolidiati, and its Vice President, Bolanle Akeredolu-Ale, the Director of the Institute, Prof. Abdelatif Zerga, and the Rector of the University of Tlemcen, Prof. Mourad Meghachou.

This cohort comprises 71 students, nine of whom are Algerian, with the rest coming from 32 African countries. This cohort symbolizes hope and a symbol of a bright future for the African continent, carrying the torch of knowledge and diplomas and crowning a rich educational journey enriched with shared experiences with their peers in a country called Algeria.

The graduation ceremony was not just a farewell but a gateway to new horizons, where the Institute hopes to continue its role as a leader in promoting scientific cooperation between Algerian universities and their African counterparts and in building research capacities in the fields of water, energy, including climate change, and strategic issues facing the African continent that require skills to serve them.

The speeches of the graduates echoed in the space of the central library, accompanied by feelings of pride and happiness, carrying with them a commitment to give their best to contribute to the development of their communities and to raise the flag of their country. Thus, a chapter in the history of PAUWES concludes, carrying with it unforgettable memories and valuable lessons that pave the way for a bright future, enriched by achievements that enrich the path of sustainable development in Africa.
